Pelargonium roseum is cultivated simply because of the rose-like scent they produce - more so than its cousin.  This geranium rose essential oil is no exception.  The aroma reminds me of days with my late grandmother, who always wore rose perfume (I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it had been made with this oil, the scent is so similar).  I like the memories, but I do have to blend this oil with others to truly enjoy its many benefits.  I prefer it with spicier oils, like clove, fennel, or frankincense in order to tone the floral overload.

I have geranium in my skincare products as well as hair care products (for my scalp health).  In both, it's mixed with other oils and the overall scent is something I enjoy.  I get the skin-balancing effects without the overpowering scent.  Geranium rose essential oil is also known for its benefits on women's reproductive systems and is often in blends created especially for women.  It's uplifting qualities mean that it's also beneficial for stressful, tense times.  Since geranium also has great protective qualities, I will sometimes diffuse it with other protective oils to boost my immune system.

Pure geranium is a little overwhelming to me, so I was excited to try the Geranium Rose. It is a very intense scent, but pure and “gentle”. I’m looking forward to using it in a facial oil blend for myself.

While we’ve made this clear that we are selling this essential oil to use in your diffuser, your inhaler, or topically (diluted), it is a pure essential oil and can be used as such.  With all essential oils:

  • Never use them undiluted, in eyes or mucus membranes (this includes mouth, ear canals, noses, genital regions as well as internal areas).  The strength of essential oils can easily damage these soft tissue areas.
  • Do not take internally unless working with a qualified and expert practitioner.
    Keep away from children.
  • If applying an essential oil to your skin always perform a small patch test to an insensitive part of the body (after you have properly diluted the oil in an appropriate carrier).

  • Oral Safety is only given because many people have been told to take oils internally.  Because several people look to us for safety advice, we feel obligated to offer those safety statements, although we do not believe anyone should be ingesting essential oils without being guided by an expert.  Experts will take your medical history into account before they suggest oils for you to ingest, diffuse, or use topically.
