Grapefruit essential oil is one of the ones I turn to for energy. Diffusing it tends to get me up and moving when I really don't feel like doing much of anything. Diffusing it with Rosemary is sometimes helpful when I've got head and neck tension, maybe because it's stimulating to the lymphatic system and mine does like to get sluggish. In case you don't know, your lymphatic system is an important player in the toxin removal game your body plays daily.
Grapefruit essential oil is great for someone who is lacking in self esteem and needs an emotional lift, which makes it a good addition to confidence boosting blends. Because it's a purifier, this oil is an excellent addition to skincare for oily skin types, but be careful to stay within dilution guidelines as it is phototoxic when used above the dermal limit. It's also said that it can be used topically for stomach upset, but I honestly haven't tried it for that.
With our pre-diluted oils . . . if diluted for kids is the highest dilution you see, it’s also the max dilution possible. Pre-diluted oils are in fractionated coconut oil.

Grapefruit Essential Oil Safety Info
Tisserand and Young have several cautions. Grapefruit essential oil is a low risk phototoxic oil and can cause skin sensitization if oxidized. It should be stored in a dark, airtight container in a refrigerator. Staying within max dermal guidelines is recommended. If applied to the skin at over maximum use level skin must not be exposed to any UV rays for 12 hours. Maximum dermal use level: 4%. Adding an antioxidant to preparations containing it is recommended. Grapefruit essential oil should still follow the safety guidelines below. ~ Source: Tisserand, Robert and Young, Rodney. Note on Grapefruit Essential Oil and drug interactions:
Some medications say not to eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking them. The primary constituent that causes this (6,7-dihydroxybergamottin, aka DHB) is not present in grapefruit essential oil. Grapefruit flavonoids are another part of grapefruit juice that inhibit the medications. Like DHP, flavonoids are not in the oil. Bergamottin and bergapten are still more constituents that inhibit the medications. These are present in the oil at very low concentrations. Based on IC50 values for the inhibition of the medications, the concentration of bergamottin and bergapten found in grapefruit essential oil are not likely to cause drug interactions. ~ Source: Tisserand, Robert and Young, Rodney. While we’ve made this clear that we are selling this essential oil to use in your diffuser, your inhaler, or topically (diluted), it is a pure essential oil and can be used as such. With all essential oils:
Keep away from children.
Oral Safety is only given because many people have been told to take oils internally. Because several people look to us for safety advice, we feel obligated to offer those safety statements, although we do not believe anyone should be ingesting essential oils without being guided by an expert. Experts will take your medical history into account before they suggest oils for you to ingest, diffuse, or use topically.

DeRu grapefruit is a favorite of mine. It smells soooo good. I use it in lip balm that I sell and it’s one of my best sellers.

This is my first experience with grapefruit. I adore it! It is uplifting and sweet, yet tangy. I ordered a sample but will be ordering a full size bottle soon!
