Unrefined Tamanu (Foraha) Carrier Oil is dependant on rainfall for its color.  You'll find that the oil tends to be referred to as either Tamanu or Foraha — names which come from either Madagascar (Tamanu) or Polynesian Islands (Foraha).  The tree itself is called a number of names in its different indigenous countries and considered sacred in some.

More rainfall for this up to 60 foot tall tree makes it a darker green, less rainfall makes it a light brown.  This batch experienced a smaller amount of rainfall and is a light brown color.  This particular batch of Tamanu is unfiltered which makes it a bit tougher to use (you may need to warm it a bit, even at room temp).

Tamanu is well-known for its skin benefits and may be used alone or as a part of a carrier blend.  It can help reduce the appearance of blemishes and scars and give skin a more youthful-looking glow.  Extremely moisturizing, many skin conditions find relief in Tamanu.  Mature skin responds well to this oil.

It may act as an aid in encouraging wounds to heal due to its ability to promote tissue formation, its anti-inflammatory benefits, and its anti-microbial benefits; We suggest using Tamanu with helichrysum for maximum wound benefit.  Some sources suggest that Tamanu may encourage hair growth (we suggest a pre-shower scalp massage, then add epsom salt water and work up a lather).

Schnaubelt¹ and Parker² all recommend it for support during shingles outbreaks.  Schnaubelt and Buckle³ pair it with Ravensara for this purpose.  0.25 oz of ravensara and 0.75 oz of Tamanu (or a 1:3 ratio) is recommended (25% dilution).

Unrefined Tamanu (Foraha) Carrier Oil may also provide joint support due.  We suggest adding oils like Roman Chamomile, Helichrysum, Frankincense, Blue Tansy, and others for an easily absorbed rub for occasional soreness in muscles and joints.

Store your Tamanu in a cool, dark place, if it begins to solidify or separate, warm in boiling water and mix prior to using.  Your Tamanu has a shelf life of 2-5 years if kept refrigerated.

My first experience with Tamanu oil was from a different supplier. It was good but I was blown away when I received this unrefined Tamanu from DeRu. The quality is outstanding!! It’s such a thick, luxurious oil, and a must have for scars or any skin issues.
The smell of it reminds me of pancake syrup!

I bought this product last year and I’ve used it very little so far, but it’s a wonderful carrier.
